From The Five Pillars

This page talks about the different Unit Attacktypes. There is also a Battle Attack Type!

Most Units have two different Attacktypes, Primary Attacktype and Secondary Attacktype. It basically means they are able to hit twice in a battle. Every Unit in The Five Pillars has at least one Attacktype and every units also has a certain Resistance against each of those eleven different Attacktypes.

For example Nidhoggs:

• Primary Attacktype: Physical
  
• Secondary Attacktype : Fire and Breath
  

When Nidhoggs attack Units with a low Resistance against those Attacktypes, these Units will die much easier in battle. If you can predict someone's stack, you can ensure your victory by exploiting their weakness this way.
