From The Five Pillars

Jump to: navigation, search

A guild allows for a number of players to form an alliance to work towards a common goal.

Lone mages don't stand much of a chance on servers beyond freshman, so you will need to join one of the existing guilds, especially if you are new and don't know too many people around. Which one to chose? It would be optimal to participate in a guild with veterans (mages with gold stars). Having helpful veterans in your guild, means you'll learn to play t5p, shortened form of The five pillars, faster and/or improve your style. Analyze the ranking list and have in mind some guilds. Now go to [statistics] and look around for biggest guild and best guild etc.; joining 3rd to 5th in any section seems reasonable. Take notice that some guilds use some special algorithms in members' colors, or names, mage numbers, etc. One of the best ways to get into a guild is to become IRC active.

A guild comes with a number of advantages, most obvious one of course is that together you stand stronger than alone, but there's more:
1) Whenever you attack or are attacked there's a chance that you will receive reinforcements (a random stack from a random other mage in your guild) to help you in battle.
2) Messages can be posted internally on the guild page ('guild' in the left menu) to share information within your guild.
3) Knowledge. There are many resources for knowledge, but guilds are one of the quicker resources
4) Benefits from a wonder. Certain guilds build wonders - special guild options, Only one wonder is allowed per guild. You must complete the building of a wonder to gain its benefits and once built the wonder must be maintained or it will fall and the benefits will be lost. Completing and maintaining requires putting some of your turns towards the wonder.
5) You cannot attack or spell other guild members
6) Unified attacks and spells against those who would violate the Rules of Engagement, commonly referred to as ROE, of the guild. Many refer to this as a BBQ. These are generally organized via IRC.
7) You can obtain the most fun out of The Five Pillars by participating in a guild and especially if you are IRC active

The guild gets stronger if you join it; you can help by either building their wonder, or being active, or having NICE stacks from 3rd to 5th (in the Net Power sorting order, not Battle Power).
